Relaxation, meditation and visualization are all excellent tools to master lucid dreaming, but it's still not always possible to have lucid dreams on demand. Also, sometimes it appears that some parts of dreams can be lucid whle other parts are not. (read all at source)
The Angel is your own higher self. The meditation is taking you to a more spiritual life. The angel could also be real spiritual help from the next life that is extending it's help to you - a messenger from your higher self.
